Job Summary
Pre/Post Registered Nurse (RN) in an Ambulatory Surgery Center provides nursing care for surgical patients during pre-admission, pre-operative, and post-operative periods. Responsibilities include planning, implementing, and evaluating pre- and post-operative nursing care tailored to individual patient needs and physician orders; maintaining and updating charts; participating in hand-off communications and anesthesia time-outs; managing medications (including controlled substances) and biohazardous materials; maintaining required logs and performing QC of CLIA waived tests; and applying intravenous therapy, patient assessment, airway maintenance, patient education, and emotional/social support for patients and families. Must have flexible scheduling with ability to report on short notice and adapt to schedule fluctuations; demonstrated understanding of operative procedures and relevant clinical competencies. Preferred qualifications include Bachelor's degree in Nursing, CPAN/CAPA or healthcare quality certification, bilingual English/Spanish, and ambulatory-surgery center experience.
Required Qualifications
- Active Texas RN license
- Minimum of three years pre- or post-op experience
- BLS & ACLS Certification upon employment
- PALS certification within 3 months of hire
- Flexibility in days and hours available to work
- Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate
