Job Summary
Perform PICC line insertions utilizing ultrasound guidance and sterile technique, assessing patient suitability and obtaining informed consent. Select appropriate line size and type, then educate patients and caregivers on care, maintenance, and complications. Monitor line function for infection or occlusion, document procedures in electronic medical records, and provide comprehensive nursing care including medication administration and dressing changes. Collaborate with physicians and nurse practitioners to develop patient care plans while adhering to regulatory standards and infection control protocols. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to maintain proficiency in evidence-based practices. Must hold a valid RN license, CRNI certification, and at least two years of clinical experience. Available part-time/on-call, arriving within four hours of request.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Certification in PICC line insertion (CRNI or equivalent)
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in vascular access or critical care
- Proficiency in ultrasound-guided vascular access techniques
- Strong assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Commitment to excellence in patient care and continuous professional development
- Must arrive to requesting unit within 4 hours of request during scheduled hours
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Experience working with diverse patient populations and age groups
- Familiarity with electronic medical records systems
