Job Summary

Conduct Sexual Assault Victim Examinations on victims/survivors of sexual violence crimes, providing sensitivity and understanding to promote recovery and healing. Perform detailed physical medical or forensic examinations to collect evidence and lab specimens in accordance with SAVE program protocol. Participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation to respond onsite or in community settings, responding within 60 minutes for minimum 12-hour shifts weekly. Create thorough medical records, provide medical advice and referrals, and offer accurate expert testimony as requested. Attend monthly team meetings, training, and staff development sessions while maintaining professional relationships with community professionals and adhering to all agency policies and HIPAA requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
  • Must hold a Florida license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or a Registered Nurse
  • Registered Nurse with at least one year of experience in Midwifery, OB/GYN, ER, Women's Health and/or completion of SANE certification
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse including a clinical rotation in Midwifery, OB/GYN, ER, Women's Health
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Negative Drug Screening prior to hire and throughout employment
  • Clear Criminal Background Check throughout employment with Suncoast Center and local checks prior to hire and annually along with DCF Level II prior to hire and as required by DCF
  • Must have valid Florida Driver's License
  • Must have acceptable driving record maintained throughout employment
  • Must have reliable vehicle
  • Must have valid vehicle registration
  • Must have valid vehicle insurance
  • Must be in compliance with Florida Laws and Administrative Codes with fingerprinting and determined to be of good moral character
  • Must have ability to access and move freely throughout exam room
  • Must have ability to lift 10 lbs overhead
  • Must have ability to carry 25 lbs
  • Must have ability to walk approximately 150 yards
  • Must have ability to sit or stand during the duration of exam, 2-4 hours
  • Must have ability to sit in front of computer screen for compile reports
  • Must be Computer Literate with technical skills sufficient to perform responsibilities and train others
  • Must be available for on call for a minimum of one 12-hour shift per week
  • Must be able to physically respond within 60 minutes
  • Must be able to attend monthly SAVE Team meetings
  • Must be able to provide accurate, expert testimony as requested on SAVE cases
  • Must be able to attend training as needed to remain current on best practice in the field
  • Must be able to attend and actively participate in all staff development and quality assurance meetings
  • Must be able to participate in the agency and program's visionary goals by communicating with SAS manager
  • Must be able to maintain good working relationships with professionals in the community
  • Must maintain excellent professional conduct including personal responsibility, ethical behavior, and treating individuals with dignity and respect
  • Must adhere to all Suncoast Center, Inc. policies including: Ethics, Supervision, Confidentiality, Safety, and Information and Security policies
  • Must attend annual HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) training
  • Must read and follow the Suncoast Center, Inc. Program Procedures Manual regarding protected health information
  • Must adhere to all HIPAA requirements
  • Must complete Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) training and any updates required to maintain that certification
  • Must be able to function and operate as a team player, showing dignity and respect for all
