Job Summary
Provide clinical overnight inpatient gastroenterology services, managing acute GI conditions and urgent/emergent presentations. Collaborate closely with Emergency Medicine, ICU, and Hospitalist teams to coordinate care. Ensure timely documentation and structured handoff to daytime GI physicians. Support VHC Health's mission to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care within a collaborative environment featuring advanced endoscopy and procedural support. This role offers flexible weekday (5:00 PM - 7:00 AM) and weekend (5:00 PM Friday - 7:00 AM Monday) call coverage with holding pager availability for emergent procedures or in-house consults.
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Completion of Gastroenterology fellowship
- Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Gastroenterology
- Eligible for or licensed by the Virginia Department of Health Professions
- Weekday Shift: 5:00 PM - 7:00 AM call (holding pager, availability for emergent procedures or in-house consults)
- Weekend Shift: 5:00 PM Friday - 7:00 AM Monday (call coverage, holding pager, covering inpatient consults and procedures)
