Job Summary
Provide skilled nursing care to patients as ordered by the physician under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Implement medication and treatment orders per the nursing care plan, while assisting RNs in developing individualized plans of care and evaluating intervention effectiveness. Identify patient risks, reinforce self-care techniques, and designate applicable charges using the hospital system. Maintain safety standards, complete required trainings, and work inclement weather or staffing emergencies as needed. Requires current LVN license, BLS certification, and two years inpatient experience. Full-time or PRN status available in Eau Claire, WI.
Required Qualifications
- Two years' experience in inpatient hospital setting
- Current state license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse
- Current BLS certification
- Knowledge of and adherence to current nursing theory and practice and infection prevention standards of practice
- Knowledge of accreditation standards to ensure adherence to all standards set forth by state and accrediting agencies of TJC and CMS
- Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures, and utilizes proper policies, procedures, and guidelines in caring for patients
- Demonstrates general computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and records management
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills
- Effective organizational and time management skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and complete complex tasks
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection prevention standards
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality
- A significant amount of standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling, often for prolonged periods of time
- Both gross and precise motor functions
- Lifting/exerting of up to 50 lbs
- Possible exposure to bodily fluids
- Visual acuity required for patient assessment and documentation of care
- Acute hearing required for accurate patient assessment
- Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard
- Close vision and the ability to adjust focus
- Must be available for inclement weather and other staffing emergencies
- Must maintain regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule
