Job Summary
PRN Hospice Registered Nurse (RN) provides compassionate, patient-centered end-of-life care in hospice settings. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive patient assessments (physical, emotional, spiritual), developing and implementing individualized care plans with patients and families, administering medications and managing pain/symptoms, monitoring and documenting patient progress, educating patients and families on disease progression and care options, coordinating with physicians and other health professionals, offering emotional support, advocating for patient preferences, maintaining accurate records, and participating in after-hours on-call rotation. Requires RN license, 2+ years of nursing experience (prefer hospice/palliative), strong communication skills, regulatory knowledge for hospice, physical ability to assist patients (lifting up to 50lbs), and the ability to work in diverse home environments. Mileage reimbursement is provided.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in the state where work is performed
- 2+ years of nursing experience (prefer hospice/palliative care)
- Strong clinical and nursing-practice knowledge
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of hospice regulatory requirements
- Ability to build rapport with patients with compassion
- Ability to lift and transfer patients up to 50lbs
- Ability to navigate varied home environments
- Maintain regular attendance and timeliness per department schedule
