Job Summary
Conduct patient fittings, refitting, and custom measurements while providing education on application, use, care, and expected outcomes per physician instructions. Manage prior authorizations, collect co-ins and deductibles, and educate patients on insurance plans and financial responsibilities. Ensure compliance by documenting custom measurements, ABNs, MAEs, and LMNs, and track, maintain, and order inventory across locations. Foster inter-departmental relations with external case managers, payers, suppliers, and clinical staff while collaborating with DMEPOS Coordinators and Billing Specialists. This six-month full-time contract may convert to permanent status within Select Ortho, a nationwide leader in orthotic and DME delivery to orthopedic practices.
Required Qualifications
- High School Degree or Equivalent (unless located in a state that requires licensing)
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
- Alpha and numeric data entry skills
- The ability to work quickly and accurately, and pay attention to detail
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, patients, employees and the public
- Knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology, Medical terminology, Insurance Claims, and Insurance Benefits
- DME or orthoses related medical experience
- Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices
- Basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices
- Biomechanics
- Excellent skills in verbal and written communication and patient care
- Judgment, decision making, and time management skills
- Ability to organize multiple projects and assignments at once
- Ability to move from a sitting to standing position regularly
- Standing for long periods of time each day
- Walking
- Bending, kneeling and stooping
- Frequently lift or move items weighing 20 pounds or more
- Sometimes lifting items weighing 5 pounds or more overhead
