Job Summary
Prepare and portion food for regular and therapeutic diets according to the planned menu and established policies. Handle food using proper safety techniques, clean and sanitize all preparation equipment, and maintain the Dietary department stock. Operate dish machines, complete general cleaning of work areas, and maintain records regarding patient diet information. Interact with patients and families using concepts of age and developmental stages while assessing risks and implementing safety precautions. Comply with infection prevention standards and complete required trainings as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide
- Demonstrates proficiency with general computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and records management
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Ability to maintain quality, Infection Prevention, and safety standards
- Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality
- Ability to work closely and professionally with others at all levels of the organization
- Effective organizational and time management skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- A significant amount of standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling often for prolonged periods
- Lifting/exerting of up to 50 lbs
- Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard
- Close vision and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to hear overhead page
- Maintains regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule
- Completes required trainings, as assigned
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- 1 year experience in healthcare food services preferred
- Food Handler's permit preferred
