Job Summary
The Correctional Dialysis RN performs hemodialysis treatment delivering safe, high-quality care within a correctional unit, using nursing knowledge to assess patients, document care, and collaborate with the healthcare team. Responsibilities include recognizing changes in patients on dialysis, adjusting therapy as needed, developing and implementing care plans, coordinating with nephrologists, dietitians, and staff, and ensuring infection control and safety. The role requires strong technical, documentation, and leadership skills; the unit operates on a Monday/Wednesday/Friday schedule in Troy, VA, within Fluvanna Correctional Center. This PRN position offers a flexible schedule with one shift per month and a competitive total rewards package. The unit reports to the Unit Leader and requires background checks per Virginia law; physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds and regular attendance.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited nursing school or equivalent
- Current RN License for VA
- Current CPR certification (or within three months of hire)
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English
- One year of Hemodialysis RN experience is required (two to three years of experience preferred)
