Job Summary
The Correctional Dialysis Registered Nurse (RN) delivers hemodialysis treatments and provides specialized RN care in accordance with state law. Responsibilities include applying nursing knowledge to patient assessments, recognizing changes in dialysis patients, adjusting therapy as needed, developing and implementing care plans, coordinating with the healthcare team, and ensuring accurate documentation. The role requires strong technical and communication skills, leadership qualities, and collaboration with nephrologists, dietitians, and other staff. The unit is located in Troy, VA at Fluvanna Correctional Center; schedule involves a Monday/Wednesday/Friday pattern, with a one-shift-per-month requirement and a focus on safety, infection control, QA, and ongoing education.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited nursing school or equivalent
- Current RN License for VA & current CPR certification (or within three months of hire)
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English
- One year of Hemodialysis RN experience is required (two to three years of experience preferred). Experience must be within the past two years.
