Job Summary

The PRN Community-Based Counselor delivers in-home, evidence-based support to families served by Youth Villages’ Intercept program. Responsibilities include carrying small caseloads, conducting individual and family sessions three times weekly, ongoing youth assessments from a strength- and solution-based perspective, attending weekly professional development meetings, and providing on-call crisis support. The role requires travel to families’ homes across Kentucky (up to 60–80 miles per meeting) and collaboration with other providers, case workers, and courts to formulate treatment plans, with documentation in an EMR system and mileage reimbursement for travel. A Master’s degree in a relevant social services discipline is preferred, with a Bachelor's degree required, and a valid driver’s license and auto insurance are needed for travel.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a social services discipline (preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree in a social services discipline (required)
  • Degrees that can be considered include: social work, drug and alcohol education or counseling, psychology, criminal justice, guidance counseling, or marriage and family therapy (others subject to review)
  • Experience working with at-risk youth and/or families in a volunteer, internship, or paid position (preferred)
  • Clinical experience (preferred)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written, verbal, and oral skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule
