PRN Certified Medical Assistant - Cardiology, Neurology and Nephrology - MUSCP

Job Summary
Room patients, take vital signs, and document health history in the electronic medical record for the Cardiology, Neurology, and Nephrology clinic. Prepare examination rooms, maintain clinical equipment, and ensure compliance with OSHA and DHEC standards. Screen patients, triage phone calls, and instruct patients on medication and sample collection as ordered by the physician. Administer prescribed treatments and tests, monitor patient conditions, and communicate care plans including patient education materials. Maintain exam room supplies, assist with scheduling, and report physical and psychosocial reactions to the physician. Work 8-hour shifts under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited medical assisting program
- Must be certified through American Medical Technologist (AMT) or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or National Health career Association (NHA) or MedCA as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
- Ability to lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (+/-) unassisted
- Ability to exert up to 50 lbs of force
- Ability to lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs
- Ability to maintain 20/40 vision corrected
- Ability to work in a latex safe environment
- Ability to work indoors
- Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use
