Job Summary
PRN Certified Medical Assistant needed at Gordon State College clinic for part-time, 8-hour shifts 1-2 days per week over 36 weeks. Responsibilities include rooming patients, taking vital signs, medical history, medication reconciliation, health screenings, assisting providers with procedures, phlebotomy and specimen handling, CLIA-waived lab testing, administering medications and vaccines, patient messaging, scheduling and referrals, and cross-training for related duties. Requires completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or approved military clinical training, High School Diploma or GED, and current BLS certification. Proficiency with electronic medical records, strong communication, teamwork, and adherence to safety and department policies are needed. Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds, perform essential physical tasks, and work in a clinical environment with attention to patient age-specific needs.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or structured military clinical training per DD214 in lieu of formal MA program (per division)
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification
- Certification/Licensure as Medical Assistant (AAMA, AMT, NHA, NRMA, etc.) or equivalent agency credential
- Ability to perform routine and complex medical assistant tasks within scope of practice
- Experience with venipuncture, specimen collection, and POCT adherence to CLIA standards
- Familiarity with electronic medical records systems and basic computer skills
