PRN Behavioral Health Technician

Job Summary
Provide consistent instruction, guidance, and reinforcement to clients in mental health emergencies while performing physical de-escalation and crisis interventions. Coordinate group therapy activities, implement basic living skills training, and document resident progress and staff notes in the Electronic Health Record. Ensure clients comply with facility rules, maintain a safe environment through housekeeping, and assist with medication administration under supervision. Perform verbal and physical de-escalation techniques, conduct fire drills, and escort clients to hospitals when required. Work as needed reporting to two shifts per month, lift approximately 50 lbs, and coordinate coverage with other technicians. Submit timesheets and leave requests accurately while attending required trainings and meetings.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Familiar with Microsoft Office and basic computer skills
- Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
- Excellent 5-year Driving Record (must have valid driver's license)
- Certified in (or ability to obtain) CPR
- Medication Assistant Certification (MAC 1)
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
- Must be over 18
- Must be willing to report to two (2) shifts per month
- Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs.
- Must be able to push/pull or transport client and equipment
- Must be able to perform verbal and, at times, physical de-escalation techniques
- Must be able to perform crisis interventions
- Must be able to administer medication under supervision
- Must be able to attend staff meetings, in-service meetings, and trainings
- Must be able to remain current on all training/certifications
- Must be able to work as scheduled
- Must be able to correctly complete and submit timesheet and leave requests
- Must be able to report facility or maintenance issues
- Must be able to assist in maintenance/housekeeping of the facility and equipment
- Must be able to promote a positive work environment
- Must be able to maintain positive relationships with supervisors, clients, and their families and/or co-workers
- Must be able to ensure clients comply with rules
- Must be able to maintain a clean and safe environment
- Must be able to perform housekeeping
- Must be able to assist clients where necessary
- Must be able to demonstrate and practice good safety skills
- Must be able to participate in fire drills, emergency procedures, and back safety techniques
- Must be able to coordinate coverage with other Behavioral Health Technicians
- Must be able to handle annual or sick leave requests
- Must be able to act as an escort/guardian for clients sent to the Hospital for evaluation
