Job Summary
Conduct weekly private and small group piano lessons for students of all ages across 18-week Fall and Spring semesters, adapting instruction to individual learning needs. Prepare students for year-end recitals by selecting appropriate pieces and ensuring they master music fundamentals. Create and document thoughtful lesson plans while maintaining positive relationships with students, parents, and staff. Assist in rehearsals, basic musical equipment maintenance, and other program execution duties as requested. Interact regularly with families to ensure visibility and accessibility within the school environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in music
- 2+ years' experience performing professionally and/or teaching music
- Must have an advanced understanding of music theory and technique relevant to primary instrument
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, verbal and written, with children and adults
- Demonstrated understanding of music concepts and be able to communicate those concepts effectively to students at all levels
- Effective time management and organizational skills to keep students on task in a lesson
- Advanced understanding of a child's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development
- Very strong customer relations skills
- Maintains a professional demeanor at all times
