Job Summary
Privacy & Commercial Counsel to join Photoroom's legal team as the second member, based in Paris with a hybrid model (3 days/week in the office) and relocation support within Europe. You will own GDPR compliance operations, data subject requests end-to-end, and maintain/produce DPAs, DPIAs, LIAs, and privacy policies, while partnering with ML/tech teams to ensure privacy-by-design across products. You will monitor privacy regulations globally, brief teams, and have growth potential into the Data Protection Officer role. On the commercial side, you will own day-to-day commercial contracting (reviewing, drafting, negotiating sales agreements) and support the Head of Legal on trademark registrations, corporate matters, labour, and public affairs. The role requires 3-5 years of data protection/privacy experience, a Master’s in law, fluency in French and English, and comfort working in a remote-friendly, fast-moving environment with exposure to SaaS and tech. The compensation range is €63,000 to €76,000 (plus stock options/BSPCE), with relocation within Europe; visa sponsorship and relocation support are available for positions based in France.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of solid legal experience in data protection/privacy (in-house at a tech company or at a law firm, ideally SaaS)
- Master's degree in law
- Bar admission is a plus but not required
- Fluent in French and English (written and spoken)
- Experience drafting compliance documentation (DPAs, DPIAs, LIAs)
- Comfort owning a steady volume of commercial and sales contracts (reviewing, drafting, negotiating independently)
- Experience working with product/tech teams to ensure privacy by design and data processing compliance
- Willingness to grow into Data Protection Officer role in the future
- Remote-friendly, async work culture; able to manage multiple workstreams independently
- Knowledge of AI technologies and related legal implications (EU AI Act) preferred
