Job Summary
Transport prisoners between arrest sites, jails, and the City of Marietta Municipal Court along with providing clerical support to police department staff. Responsibilities include picking up and transporting prisoners to designated jails or the municipal court, transporting prisoners to doctor/hospital as needed, obtaining and filing prisoners’ medical records, completing prisoner intake paperwork, and assisting with police records as assigned. Requires efficient use of MS Office to enter/retrieve data and compose incident reports, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to pass a physical exam and initial less-than-lethal weapon training. Must be able to work varying shifts including weekends and holidays; drug screening and background inquiry are required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 18 years of age
- Valid Georgia driver’s license with satisfactory 7-year driving history (no recent DUIs)
- Ability to pass jailer certification course (80 hours) during 6-month period
- Ability to use PC/MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) to enter/retrieve data and prepare incident reports
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Physical ability to pass physical exam and less-than-lethal weapon training
- Ability to work shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Drug screen and background inquiry required
