Job Summary
Printing Press Operator 1 responsibilities include setting up, adjusting, operating, and maintaining single or multi-color offset presses; performing all make-ready tasks such as hanging plates, installing cylinders, and inspecting plates/cylinders for quality; maintaining press, performing minor repairs, and conducting periodic manufacturer-recommended maintenance; applying color corrections and press adjustments to meet quality specs; reading and applying job specifications to determine required materials; mentoring new and existing employees to ensure adherence to company policies and best practices; ensuring safety and confidentiality per EEO guidelines; compensation ranges from $18.17 to $27.80 per hour with potential overtime and additional pay components; benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life and other insurance, parental leave, tuition assistance, and discounts.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials, equipment and safety requirements
- Ability to read and understand job specifications to determine materials needed
- Skill in reading micrometers to mount and align printing plates
- Experience with make-ready tasks for offset presses
- Ability to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to equipment
- Ability to mentor and train new/existing employees
- Understanding of press capabilities and appropriate use for various jobs
- Knowledge of packing pressure and proper printing pressure for different jobs
