Print Assistant - Machine Operative

Job Summary
Set up and operate flexographic print machinery to optimum levels, ensuring strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and hygiene standards. Maintain press consumables by loading and offloading master reels and inks, while managing the press in the absence of the Lead Printer. Spot and report non-conformities, support continuous improvement initiatives, and assist with training colleagues and shift handovers. Contribute to general cleaning and maintenance of print equipment, displaying flexibility to support other production areas such as conversion or slitting machinery. Operate across a rotating 12-hour shift pattern over a four-week cycle.
Required Qualifications
- Good level of literacy and numeracy, preferably GCSE level in English and Maths
- Previous print experience
- Experience of Fischer Krecke 126S, 20SIX CS colour printers or BOBST printers
- Experience in Mounting
- Background in manufacturing, either label or packaging printing
- Considerable exposure to quality, health and safety and environmental standards and practices within a production setting
- 12 hour rotating shift pattern
- Spread over a rotating 4 week cycle
- Week 1 – 4 nights, 3 off
- Week 2 – 3 days, 1 off, 3 nights
- Week 3 – 3 off, 4 days
- Week 4 – 7 off
Desired Qualifications
- Experience of solvent based inks
- Experience of Fischer Krecke 126S, 20SIX CS colour printers or BOBST printers
- Experience in Mounting
- Background in manufacturing, either label or packaging printing
- Exposure to Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement techniques
- Considerable exposure to quality, health and safety and environmental standards and practices within a production setting
