Job Summary
Lead and deliver port and maritime decarbonization assignments, including port electrification, clean energy infrastructure, alternative marine fuels, and air quality improvements across maritime and freight transportation systems. Develop practical, financially viable strategies that improve environmental performance while maintaining reliable port operations. Conduct electrification and clean fuel feasibility assessments, evaluate utility and grid capacity constraints, and develop integrated energy strategies for decarbonization aligned with port realities. Engage with port leadership, terminal operators, utilities, regulators, and industry stakeholders; identify and secure local, state, and federal grants/incentives; perform emissions analysis and develop decarbonization roadmaps; evaluate emerging technologies and regulatory requirements; prepare reports, presentations, and support business development; mentor junior staff and lead multidisciplinary teams. Preference for West Coast USA; position is flexible with remote work and office options.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in transportation, environmental studies, energy, public policy, or a similar field
- 8+ years of experience in clean transportation
- Foundational knowledge in transportation electrification (vehicle technologies and charging infrastructure) and clean transportation fuels
- Foundational knowledge of strategies for reducing transportation sector greenhouse gas emissions
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work under tight deadlines
- Flexibility and sound business ethics
