Principal Thermal Analysis Engineer - Space Exploration Systems
$169,624–$237,473 year
On-siteLos Angeles, California, United States
Job Summary
Own and lead thermal control system architecture and design for space electro-mechanical and avionics systems across all program phases, from concept through hardware delivery. Define thermal requirements, allocations, and verification approaches while conducting comprehensive steady-state, transient, and trajectory-dependent analyses to verify performance. Develop high-fidelity thermal math models using Thermal Desktop, SINDA/FLUINT, and ANSYS Workbench, correlate them to test data, and execute thermal test plans including thermal vacuum and cycling to validate compliance. Lead cross-functional teams to drive design trade studies, manage deliverables, and provide technical mentorship to junior engineers. Present analysis products at design reviews and support program milestones.
Required Qualifications
- Passion for our mission and vision
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or closely related technical discipline
- 10+ years of relevant experience in thermal systems engineering, thermal analysis, thermodynamics, and/or fluid systems
- 15+ years of relevant experience in thermal systems engineering, thermal analysis, thermodynamics, and/or fluid systems
- Proven, hands-on experience designing and analyzing thermal control systems within the space or aerospace industry
