Principal Test Engineer – Optical & Functional Testing

Job Summary
Principal Test Engineer – Optical & Functional Testing role at Jabil involves leading the development of test solutions and proposals for optical/electrical hardware, including defining specifications, hardware/software deliverables, and tester validation criteria. Responsibilities include creating test solution proposals with price, schedule, and documentation packages, developing test specifications and solutions across electrical, mechanical, optical hardware and software domains (GPIB/RS-232, ESS, lab fixtures, LabWindows/CVI, LabVIEW, TestStand, ANSI C/C++, Visual Basic), performing design-for-test considerations, and supporting crisis testing for the GTS RFQ process. The candidate should have a BS in Electronics or Electrical Engineering (MS preferred) with 8+ years of related experience, strong technical skills across hardware/software test environments, and ability to travel internationally as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors of Science degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering from four-year college or university required
- Masters of Science preferred
- more than eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
- REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS The employee is frequently required to walk, and to lift and carry PC’s and test equipment weighing up to 50lbs
- TRAVEL Travel may be required for customer support, training, test solution deployment, and to achieve many other Jabil business goals
