Principal Technical Specialist

Job Summary
The Principal Technical Specialist will visit customers with the Sales team to support filter sales opportunities and gather technical voice-of-customer requirements for filtration, separation, and purification needs. You will lead the TS team to identify root causes of customer product performance issues across product and application areas, conduct field feedback to R&D, coordinate test plans and write clear reports to convince customers, and share learnings with global TS teams. Requires a chemistry background (BSc or higher with MSc/PhD preferred), strong analytical and communication skills in Japanese and English, and at least five years of technical semiconductor experience. Travel approximately 60% within Japan; role supports remote work arrangements and reports to the Director of Scientific & Laboratory Services. The position emphasizes problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration, technical seminars, and customer-facing technical leadership in filtration, separation, and purification for semiconductor applications.
Required Qualifications
- Chemistry degree (BSc or higher) or advanced degree (MSc/PhD)
- Minimum five years of technical experience in semiconductor industry (fab, material supplier, OEM)
- Proficiency in English (besides local language)
- Excellent report writing and communication skills
- Ability to travel – 60% travel, 1-2 days/week overnight, within Japan
- Japanese native level and English communication ability
