Job Summary
Principal Technical Advisor focusing on Nuclear Material Control and Accountability (NMC&A) with 20+ years of nuclear-related experience to provide expert technical leadership across complex, high-visibility programs at Savannah River Site. Responsibilities include establishing cost-effective technical solutions to evolving requirements, conducting technical investigations, defining scope for new project-type work, guiding multi-disciplinary teams on regulatory-compliance-driven issues, interfacing with DOE bodies and external stakeholders, and contributing to strategic planning and program improvement. The role requires independent work to ensure adherence to technical policies, mentorship of the next generation of NMC&A professionals, and active participation in safety and training initiatives. Strong expertise in analytical chemistry, radiochemistry, non-destructive examination, reactor physics, statistics, project management, and related software/tools is highly desirable. Must demonstrate advanced problem-solving, leadership in high-stakes projects, and ongoing professional development in nuclear materials control and accountability at a DOE/NNSA site.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a physical science (e.g., chemistry, physics, biology) or engineering (chemical, nuclear, electrical, mechanical)
- 15 to 20 years’ experience preferably in nuclear related assignments
- Advanced degree preferable
- Experience with analytical chemistry, radiochemistry, non-destructive examination techniques, reactor physics, statistics, or plant operations
- Substantive management experience in related fields
- US citizenship (proof required)
