Job Summary
Principal Technical Advisor/SRPPF Advisor to establish cost-effective technical solutions for frequently changing requirements; provide expert leadership on complex issues, manage multi-disciplinary teams on high-visibility, policy- and regulatory-sensitive work, interact with DOE entities and external stakeholders, define scope of new work, develop strategic technical plans, ensure safety compliance, and guide technical program improvements aligned with mission goals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a physical science (e.g., chemistry, physics, biology) or engineering (chemical, nuclear, electrical, mechanical) with 15 to 20 years’ experience, preferably in nuclear-related assignments; some roles may require advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) to reduce years of experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance (Area Security Access)
- Extensive experience with analytical chemistry, radiochemistry, non-destructive examination techniques, reactor physics, statistics, or plant operations; familiarity with project management and engineering/business-type functions
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams on high-visibility, sensitive projects involving budget/schedule/regulatory considerations
- Strong written and verbal communication, interaction with internal/external customers and oversight boards (DOE-SR, DOE-HQ)
- Development of strategic plans and milestones for major program areas; ability to define scope and changing technical requirements
- Safety focus and ability to stop work if unsafe conditions exist
- Knowledge of Nuclear Material Control and Accountability (NMC&A) processes and related DOE orders
- Ability to manage special projects across divisions and mentor next-generation staff
- Bachelor’s in science/engineering with significant years of experience; an advanced degree preferred
