Job Summary
Principal Systems Engineer, Fuel Cell Systems leads architecture, integration, and validation of hydrogen fuel cell systems for an industrial material-handling platform. Serves as technical authority and program leader, driving end-to-end system definition, cross-functional technical leadership, structured program execution, and ensuring performance, safety, durability, manufacturability, and regulatory compliance of the integrated fuel cell power system. Responsible for end-to-end product development from concept through pilot, DV/PV, and full-scale manufacturing launch, including system-level DVP&R plans, validation, and regulatory activities. Mentors engineering teams, represents system performance in executive reviews, and collaborates with validation and validation teams to meet TRL and risk-management milestones. Travel up to 25% and on-site role in Albany, NY.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, or related technical field required
- Master’s degree preferred
- 10+ years of experience in fuel cell systems, hydrogen systems, battery systems, or related electrochemical/industrial power system development
- Experience leading cross-functional engineering programs through full industrial product development lifecycles
- New Product Introduction (NPI) in regulated industrial or energy markets
- Project/program management experience in hardware and embedded software/controls
- Familiarity with hydrogen/fuel cell codes and standards (SAE, ISO, NFPA)
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to travel up to 25%
