Job Summary
Develop and implement MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs, including management, analysis, evaluation, and verification tasks. Create and manage safety strategies, integrate tasks into the Program Integrated Master Schedule, and oversee safety budgets using Earned Value Management. Conduct safety analyses of engineering designs and hardware to ensure fault tolerance, while proactively engaging in design change boards to assess impacts on safety programs. Mentor early-career safety engineers and lead System Safety Working Groups with internal and external stakeholders. This onsite role requires an active DoD Secret clearance and 8+ years of experience in aerospace and defense, situated within RTX's System Safety / Human System Integration Department.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. government issued security clearance
- U.S. citizenship
- Active and existing security clearance
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- Minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience
- Experience developing and implementing MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks and analyses
- Experience writing technical reports and presentations
- Experience with briefing safety status to safety approval authority at technical reviews, to safety review boards and/or to others as part of the safety approval process
- Experience managing or owning a safety program
Desired Qualifications
- Active/transferable DoD security clearance
- Program tasks and analyses, involving management (task series 100), analysis (task series 200), evaluation (task series 300), and verification (task series 400)
- Hardware and software safety related tasks
- Experience with briefing at the military safety review board
- Experience with system and software safety implementation in Agile Development environment
- Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development
- Experience interfacing with Human Systems Integration showcasing execution of Human Factors Engineering tasking involving MIL-STD-1472
- Experience with Engineering Change Proposals, Engineering Review Boards, System Safety Working Groups
