Job Summary
Principal Substation Electrical Engineer in Arcadis’ Power Delivery & Renewable team. Lead technical and project-management activities, overseeing hands-on substation electrical engineering, detail design, and studies for utility and developer clients in North America. Responsibilities include coordinating with PD&R teams, conducting QA/QC reviews, delivering complete design packages (development through construction), and mentoring junior staff. Role requires interfacing with protection & control, transmission, distribution, renewables, and other engineering groups; travel up to 20% to client sites and meetings within North America and potentially internationally. Must have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, a PE license, 12+ years of relevant substation experience, and proficiency in SKM, ETAP, ASPEN, CAPE, CDEGS, WinIGS, with adherence to NEC/NESC/IEEE codes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- PE License
- Minimum 12 years of experience in substation engineering, design and studies (AIS and GIS) for utility-scale, developer, and/or large industrial facilities
- Proficiency in electrical engineering software (SKM, ETAP, ASPEN, CAPE, CDEGS, WinIGS) and adherence to NEC, NESC, IEEE codes
- Experience in Power Delivery Substation consultancy and knowledge of power delivery, generation and renewables business
