Job Summary

Perform linear and non-linear structural analyses of individual components and complex underwater assemblies using hand-calculations, Finite Element Analysis, and bolted joint calculations. Lead a small team of structural analysts to support program analysis needs while ensuring designs meet schedule and budget objectives. Collaborate in a team environment to prioritize multiple responsibilities and develop solutions for complex problems. This role requires a Principal or Senior Principal Structural Engineer with proficiency in FEMAP/Nastran or ANSYS, located in the Naval & Oceanic Systems business unit in Annapolis, MD. Candidates must be US citizens with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.

  • Comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, or equivalent STEM)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural and/or thermal analysis
  • MS degree with 3 years of experience
  • Proficiency in using Finite Element Analysis tools (FEMAP/Nastran or ANSYS)
  • Proficiency in bolted joint analysis
  • Proficiency in structural hand calculations
  • Proficiency in using common engineering design, production, analysis, and office tools
  • US citizenship
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI
  • Pass a polygraph
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in structural analysis and/or thermal analysis
  • MS degree with 6 years of experience
  • Active Secret clearance

Desired Qualifications

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment where multiple projects are being developed and deployed simultaneously
  • Demonstrated skills/experience in the following multi-disciplined areas: shock, vibration, bolted joint calculations, and fracture analysis
  • Demonstrated skills/experience with CFD analysis
  • Familiarity with materials design for the undersea environment
  • Familiarity with manufacturing techniques
  • Familiarity with integration and test
