Job Summary
Principal Software Engineer at Victory Live is a senior technology leader who guides engineering direction across teams, leads multi-team initiatives, partners with Architects and executive leadership on platform strategy and major investments, and defines engineering standards. The role emphasizes driving best practices across code design, review, testing, observability, and AI-assisted engineering; serving as an AI engineering thought leader; solving highly scalable, reliable system problems; developing engineers and maturing organizational capabilities; and contributing to the long-term scalability and maintainability of the platform. The tech stack includes Ruby, Python, Typescript, C#, Rails, FastAPI, .NET, Postgres, DynamoDB, MSSQL Server, Docker, Terraform, AWS, Azure; data tooling like Snowflake, dbt, Dagster, Airflow; AI tooling such as Anthropic Claude Code and GitHub Copilot; observability with Datadog and Grafana; collaboration tools Jira/Confluence/GitHub; and a distributed onshore/offshore team model. The company emphasizes a remote-first, AI-native approach with strong focus on code quality, ownership, and scalable software delivery in a live-events marketplace context.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with cross-team technical leadership at growth-stage or larger companies
- Demonstrated impact on architecture and engineering practice at the org level
- Deep technical breadth: backend systems, API design, data, infrastructure, and at least one of web/mobile/platform
- Track record of introducing AI/ML or AI-assisted-development tooling into production engineering workflows and measurably improving developer productivity or code quality
- Excellent written communication as design docs, RFCs, and postmortems should set the standard for the org
- Comfort operating with ambiguity and a bias toward structured execution over analysis paralysis
