Job Summary
Principal Software Engineer needed to drive platform and product engineering at a healthtech company in NYC. You will lead and deliver multi-system technical roadmaps, set architectural standards, and champion AI-augmented development practices while remaining hands-on. Responsibilities include architecting scalable, maintainable systems; owning cross-system delivery of complex projects; defining code standards and core libraries; improving platform stability, performance, and scalability; translating strategic objectives into technical roadmaps; partnering with product and business leaders; mitigating risks; facilitating cross-team alignment; mentoring senior engineers; and influencing stakeholders without formal authority. Core tech stack includes TypeScript, Python, GraphQL, PostgreSQL; cloud and DevOps emphasis on AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD. The role emphasizes leadership at senior levels with enterprise SaaS impact and healthcare-domain familiarity is a plus.
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of software engineering experience with strong breadth and depth
- Track record delivering complex, multi-team, enterprise SaaS projects
- Proven ability to define and execute technical vision and strategy at scale
- Expert proficiency in TypeScript, Python, GraphQL, and PostgreSQL
- Experience adopting AI coding assistants and improving team productivity
- Strong full-stack, system design, and cloud fundamentals (AWS preferred)
- Experience with CI/CD, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and DevOps practices
- Strong program/project leadership: planning, risk management, milestones, rollout, and maintenance
- Excellent communication and ability to influence across stakeholders without formal authority
- Healthcare technology experience and familiarity with compliance standards (HIPAA / HITRUST) (preferred)
- Track record building and deploying user-facing AI products or deploying/integrating AI/ML models (preferred)
- Domain familiarity with medical billing, healthcare administration, or clinical workflows (preferred)
- Open source contributions or technical publications (preferred)
