Job Summary
Principal Software Engineer for the Identity Solutions Data Platform at Mastercard, focusing on the platform underpinning Identity Graph and Identity Network. You will assess data processing pipelines against cost, efficiency, and reliability targets, prototype solutions, and measure results against KPIs. Provides hands-on technical leadership, mentors engineers, and collaborates with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to drive architectural decisions and platform consolidation within Mastercard's broader technology ecosystem. Requires deep experience with large-scale data processing, Spark/Databricks, Scala/Java (Python a plus), AWS, security practices, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to varied audiences.
Required Qualifications
- Track record of delivering complex systems
- Experience designing and operating large-scale data processing pipelines
- Experience with distributed systems and cloud infrastructure (AWS)
- Extensive hands-on experience with Spark and Databricks
- Proficiency in Scala or Java; Python experience
- Ability to assess proposals with data, prototype feasibility, and define measurable success criteria
- Experience mentoring engineers and communicating with stakeholders
- Understanding of security and reliability engineering in a cloud context
