Job Summary
Design and build scalable Java applications on AWS while leading technical decision-making and influencing engineering standards across squads. Solve complex architectural challenges, drive improvements in software quality and security, and champion modern engineering practices including CI/CD automation. Mentor engineers, identify technical risks early, and coach teams toward sustainable solutions. Collaborate closely with Product, Architecture, and Engineering teams to shape ambitious product ideas. This influential role balances hands-on coding with strategic guidance to leave a lasting impact on Very's technology and customer experience.
Required Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience building modern software solutions using Java and AWS
- A track record of designing and evolving complex systems at scale
- Experience mentoring engineers and raising technical standards across teams
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex ideas in a simple way
- A curiosity for emerging technologies and a desire to continually learn and evolve
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
