Job Summary
Principal Software Engineer for Health100 platform leads cloud-native, event-driven architecture and sets technical direction across backend and platform domains. You will mentor senior engineers, translate prototypes into production systems with strong reliability, security, and performance standards, and define platform roadmaps in collaboration with engineering leadership, product teams, and the open-source community. You’ll own accountability for architecture decisions, drive solutions from prototype to production, and ensure continuous delivery, observability, and operational readiness while applying rigorous engineering practices. Responsibilities emphasize setting technical vision across cloud, backend, automation, and platform areas; guiding architecture and engineering processes; delivering high-quality, scalable systems with a strong security posture; and staying current with emerging technologies and industry standards. Preference for hybrid work from the Woonsocket, RI HQ; remote considered for candidates not in proximity.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of software development experience
- 5+ years of Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices development
- 2+ years working with Kafka or other event-driven platforms
- 3+ years experience with cloud computing (GCP, Azure, or equivalent)
- 3+ years applying engineering practices for security, resiliency, availability, and scalability in production systems
- Experience with AI/generative AI solutions and technologies
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
