Job Summary
Design and build platform components for the observability stack, including request tracing systems, time series telemetry, and log management tools. Write high-quality, maintainable code while ensuring architecture remains extensible across projects. Collaborate with Product Management and stakeholders to define requirements, provide development estimates, and conduct technical design reviews. Stay current with observability best practices to share findings with the team and coach junior developers on new technologies. Proactively raise issues that could impact delivery commitments. This individual contributor role reports to the Senior Director of Software Engineering and requires a minimum of 15 years of experience in Java, C#, or C++. Hybrid work is required with a minimum of two days in the office per week.
Required Qualifications
- BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent engineering experience
- 15+ years of relevant software development experience
- Experience with OOP/OOD principles, design patterns and data structures
- Experience in Java, C# or C++, object oriented design and programming skills
- Experience writing scalable web services
- Experience with state-of-the art development tools and techniques
- Access to an office location is required
- Minimum 2 days per week in-office expectation
Desired Qualifications
- Ideally, you have a background in request tracing systems, time series telemetry platforms, application performance management tools or log management tools
- Stream processing engines, such as Spark Streaming, Flink and Storm
- noSQL stores such as Cassandra, MongoDb and DocumentDb
- Commercial and/or open source technologies in the log management, distributed tracing and analytics domains e.g. LogStash, Splunk, Zipkin, New Relic etc
