Job Summary
Principal Software Engineer – Capella Control Plane: serve as the cross-team technical authority for Capella's Control Plane, defining and evolving the architecture for scalability, reliability, performance, and security. Hands-on development with production-quality Golang code for Capella platform services, plus design patterns, CI/CD practices. Architect and optimize multi-cloud deployments (AWS, GCP, Azure) including networking and secure connectivity; build scalable, multi-tenant control plane services. Define monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting standards; own production outcomes and long-term remediation. Lead design and delivery of core platform capabilities such as provisioning, lifecycle management, and security controls; tackle distributed systems challenges. Exercise cross-team technical authority with product, SRE, QA, and global engineering teams; maintain knowledge of web UI architecture and collaborate with frontend engineers on end-to-end control plane workflows. Mentor engineers, drive engineering culture and standards, and explore cloud-native technologies and architectures for Capella's evolution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
- 12+ years of professional software engineering experience
- 5+ years in cloud/distributed systems
- Expertise in Golang with distributed, cloud-native systems
- Strong knowledge of system design, high availability, fault tolerance, performance tuning
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) including networking and Kubernetes
- Experience designing/building control plane and platform components for SaaS at scale
- Proven experience leading cross-team architecture and platform decisions
- Working knowledge of web UI architecture and collaboration with frontend engineers
- Experience mentoring engineers and driving org-level influence
