Job Summary
Principal Software Engineer role leading enterprise-wide architectural initiatives and long-term technology strategy. Responsible for designing highly scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems, guiding multi-region platforms, driving modernization (microservices transformation, platform consolidation), defining API governance and data architecture, shaping security and observability standards, and mentoring senior engineers. Requires hands-on leadership in architecture reviews, performance optimization, capacity planning, and collaborating with product and leadership on roadmap decisions; strong emphasis on reliability engineering, CI/CD automation, and global-scale delivery. Remote, US-only, full-time W2 engagement with no third-party vendors, and H1B transfer eligibility for qualified candidates.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
- Ten or more years of professional software engineering experience
- Proven expertise designing distributed, high-scale systems in production
- Advanced proficiency in Java, Go, C++, or similar backend languages
- Deep understanding of data modeling, system optimization, and performance tuning
- Experience leading cross-team technical initiatives across multiple business units
- Strong expertise in reliability engineering and distributed architectures
- Demonstrated leadership in architectural decision-making at enterprise scale
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Track record of mentoring senior engineers and shaping engineering culture
