Job Summary
Principal Engineer on Ads at DoorDash leads architectural vision for the Ads organization, setting long-term technical strategy and owning the engineering culture across large-scale distributed systems. Partners with ML, Product, Data Science, and Infrastructure to align roadmaps, scale foundational systems, and deliver high-impact outcomes that improve advertiser ROI, platform reliability, and consumer experience. Responsibilities include providing architectural direction across the full Ads stack, mentoring engineers, defining patterns and standards for system design and operations, and solving complex distributed systems challenges with hands-on coding. Requires 12+ years of experience, BS/MS in CS (or equivalent), and the ability to operate at director-level scope while remaining technically hands-on.
