Job Summary
Lead the architectural evolution of the Coupa Supplier Platform, guiding the transition from a Rails monolith to a scalable multi-cloud microservices architecture while maintaining production uptime for millions of suppliers. Define API design, microservice boundaries, and deployment pipelines, then mentor engineers through code reviews and architectural decision-making. Partner with SRE teams on infrastructure-as-code and security governance, ensuring robust, compliant systems across global regions. Collaborate with product and business teams to transform supplier workflows into high-performance systems that handle increasing traffic and complex integrations.
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years building B2B SaaS at scale
- Real experience evolving legacy systems into microservices—in production, with users depending on uptime
- Deep knowledge of API-driven services, multi-tenant architectures, and B2B integration patterns that handle millions of users
- Solid foundation in modern deployment: CI/CD, Docker/Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, working with cloud providers like AWS or GCP
- Comfort across technology stacks (Rails, Golang, Java)
- Track record mentoring teams—providing direction without micromanaging, staying technical without bottlenecking
- Problem-solving skills that balance scale, performance, technical debt, and shipping features
- Communication skills that work across engineering, product, and business
