Job Summary
Principal / Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer (Lab Designer) onsite in Melbourne, FL. Research, plan, design and develop mechanical products and systems (instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines, and thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems). Apply research to planning, design, development and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems. Lead test-station design, BOMs, scheduling, and execution; coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure a quality product on schedule and within budget. Develop, integrate and document laboratory systems; prepare Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs) and ensure proper documentation. Relocation assistance may be available and travel up to 10% is expected. Requires U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret clearance. Requires knowledge of NX Design tool or equivalent, and experience with test equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, power supplies, etc.). Flexible work arrangements available (9/80 schedule).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in STEM with 5 years related experience OR Master of Science in STEM with 3 years related experience OR STEM PhD with 1 year related experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. government Secret clearance
- Knowledge of NX Design tool or other mechanical design tools
- Experience with test equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, power supplies, etc.)
- Understanding of test engineering concepts
