Job Summary
Principal Security Engineer position within Levi Strauss & Co.’s Global Information Security (GIS). You will architect and build an agentic AI platform to orchestrate security agents, lead the design of the AI Gateway for all LLM and agent traffic, establish agent identity/registry, and implement guardrails, audit, and observability for agent workloads. The role requires senior software engineering at scale, expert Python, hands-on AI orchestration, security operations expertise, and the ability to drive architecture with RFCs and design reviews. This is a remote role based in the US with a starting salary of $135,200–$198,300 per year, and it sits within a hybrid landscape of enterprise software engineering, AI systems design, and cybersecurity for a globally recognized brand.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience
- expert proficiency in Python
- hands-on experience building and shipping agentic AI applications
- designing and delivering complex, distributed, cloud-native systems at scale
- Practical proficiency with AI orchestration frameworks (Semantic Kernel, LangChain, ADK, etc.) and RAG pipeline design (embedding strategies, hybrid search, LLM evaluation)
- Solid grasp of security operations concepts: threat intelligence workflows, detection engineering and SIEM query languages (KQL, SPL, YARA-L), MITRE ATT&CK, vulnerability management, API-based integration with security platforms
- Strong architecture and leadership instincts: RFCs, design reviews, build-vs-buy decisions, communicate technical complexity to engineering and executive audiences
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD in regulated or high-assurance environments; familiarity with cloud security best practices including managed identity, Key Vault, least-privilege design
- Genuine, demonstrable passion for AI and agentic systems; actively experimenting and building today
