Job Summary
Lead development of photonic integrated circuits using micro-transfer printing of active components; build and manage a dynamic research group; secure national and European funding; collaborate with industry and academia; disseminate research via publications; develop IP and support commercial exploitation; supervise postgraduate students; ensure safety/compliance; contribute to strategic planning and training.
Required Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject area
- Typically 7+ years’ experience in a prestigious academic institution or industrial research organisation
- Deep knowledge of III-V and silicon photonic device design and fabrication
- Proven track record of generating independent competitively won funding
- Expertise in coordinating, supporting and managing large scale research projects
- Track record of high quality research with publications/patents
- Self-motivated, dynamic, collaborative
- Ability to define and implement a world-leading research programme spanning fundamental science to applied projects with industry partners
- Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills
- Excellent communication skills
