Principal Scientist/Lab Manager, Clinical Pathology

Lead and manage the Clinical Pathology Laboratory in the Nonclinical Drug Safety department, delivering accurate, timely, and compliant laboratory data; supervise staff, ensure GLP compliance, validate and document new assays and instruments, monitor QC metrics, evaluate new technologies, and collaborate with stakeholders to support nonclinical studies from discovery to submissions. Serve as primary liaison for laboratory performance, present reports on quality metrics and improvements, promote a safe work environment, and participate in multidisciplinary committees. Key responsibilities include day-to-day laboratory operations across hematology, coagulation, clinical chemistry, urinalysis, and related areas in multiple nonclinical species; instrument operation and data generation on a rotating basis; staff hiring, onboarding, scheduling, performance reviews, and career development; workforce planning and cross-training; safety and regulatory compliance; validation and documentation for new assays, instruments, and software updates; oversee test performance, instrument function, QC, and corrective actions; lead implementation projects for new technologies and automation; and effective communication with stakeholders.
