Job Summary

Principal Scientist I in Molecular Lab Research and Early Development leads hands-on sequencing workflow development for Axelios and SBX technologies, mentors junior scientists, designs and optimizes sequencing assays, troubleshoots assays, and collaborates with pharma partners and bioinformatics teams. The role requires deep molecular biology expertise, experience with NGS workflows and diagnostic assay development, ability to translate complex data for stakeholders, and strong technical writing to create SOPs and documentation; the work is based on-site in Pleasanton, CA, with no relocation support.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Bioengineering, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant industry experience
  • deep understanding of molecular biology in NGS workflows beyond routine library preparation
  • experience designing and optimizing novel NGS workflows
  • ability to troubleshoot assays and critical evaluation of workflows
  • experience with diagnostic assay development and understanding of regulatory framework for RUO/LDT/IVD
  • proficiency in interpreting bioinformatics outputs and sequencing metrics
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills, collaboration across teams
  • excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
