Job Summary
Execute Safety Management Programmes to address Functional and Non-Functional Safety aspects, creating and managing Safety Plans and Safety & Environmental Cases per GDUK processes. Analyze software and hardware design capabilities to identify hazards, formulate specific functional safety requirements, and conduct Fault Tree and Event Tree Analysis. Deliver strategic safety leadership across military land, sea, and air environments, ensuring compliance with standards including Def Stan 00-051, IEC 61508, DO-254, and HAZOPS while managing Safety Integrity Levels. Complete a status questionnaire for QDOS IR35 determination prior to engagement and obtain appropriate UK Security clearance.
Required Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer
- Degree qualified in a relevant discipline
- UK Security clearance
- Right to work checks
- Safety Engineering for large scale system of systems
- Track record of delivery on Safety and Environmental programmes
- Understanding of Systems Engineering
- Experience of functional safety and system of systems safety
- System and product safety case plans and reports
- Software Safety
- Fault Tree and Event Tree Analysis
- Modular Safety Cases and Goal Structuring Notation (GSN)
- Def Stan 00-051, 00-055; 00-056; IEC 61508; DSA02.DLSR.LSSR; DO-254; DO-178B and C
- HAZOPS
- Safety Integrity Levels (SILs)
- Legislative compliance and knowledge of current/future safety and environmental legislation
- CCA
- OHHA / OSHA
- Input into the business's safety capability
- Strategic safety leadership
- Flexible and innovative approaches in the military land, sea and air environment
- Execution of Safety Management Programmes
- Creation and management of Safety Plans and Safety & Environmental Cases in accordance with GDUK processes
- Analysis of software and hardware design capabilities in order to identify hazards, their causes and consequences
- Formulation of specific functional safety requirements and/or operational processes
- Completion of a status questionnaire for QDOS IR35 Status Review
Desired Qualifications
- MSc in System Safety
- Chartered Engineer, or equivalent status
