Job Summary
Conceptualize broad school goals and develop policies, programs, and budgets to promote student and staff development. Ensure the school program aligns with legal, financial, and organizational structures while defining staff responsibilities and accountability. Provide activities that facilitate professional growth for school staff and identify annual objectives for instructional, extra-curricular, and athletic programs. Establish formal work relationships, evaluate student progress and staff performance, and maintain inter-school system communications. Orient new staff and students, manage instructional supplies and equipment, and organize support services. Maintain relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members while complying with established lines of authority.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an approved program in school administration at the master's level or above
- 3 to 5 years of experience as a classroom teacher
- Equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
- License in school administration as a Principal from the State of North Carolina
- Valid North Carolina driver's license
- Physical ability to operate a variety of equipment including computers, copiers, calculators, cellular phones, etc.
- Physical ability to operate a motor vehicle
- Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body
- Ability to walk or stand to a significant degree
