Job Summary
Investigate technical feasibility and execute laboratory experiments to drive product development from initial design through market release. Develop innovative solutions by analyzing data, conducting research, and engaging stakeholders to define user experiences and product roadmaps. Coordinate global research efforts, lead large-scale projects, and contribute to patent applications while maintaining knowledge of state-of-the-art principles. Interact with executives and top customers to demonstrate technical expertise and ensure a healthy product development pipeline.
Required Qualifications
- Doctoral degree or a Masters degree
- More than ten years of related experience
- Wide range of experience using professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issue in creative and effective ways
- Solid fundamental knowledge in physical sciences and engineering disciplines
- Practical experience with fluid dynamics, machine design, machine learning, and/or design of experiments
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community
- Ability to author speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format
- Ability to effectively present complex information to top management, executives and public groups
- Comprehension and application of principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra and statistical theory
- Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations and proofs of theorems
- Ability to deal with non-verbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc) in difficult phases
- Ability to regularly sit
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- Ability to talk or hear
- Ability to occasionally stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms
- Ability to require close vision ability
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance
- Ability to be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and some toxic or caustic chemicals
- Ability to be occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock
- Estimated 20% travel

- Demonstrated ability to initiate the design, development, execution and implementation technical investigations
- Application of principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems resulting in a healthy product development pipeline
- Ability to handle assignments involving problems of diverse and complex scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors
- Ability to demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
- Ability to regularly interact with executives and/or top customers promoting and demonstrating Nordson's technical knowledge
- Ability to coordinate interdepartmental and global research efforts
- Ability to lead projects of large scope
