Job Summary

Principal Reliability Engineer to lead reliability strategy, standards development, and testing of HP Personal Systems compute portfolio. Responsibilities include applying advanced life modeling and statistical analysis (e.g., Arrhenius, Coffin-Manson, Weibull, Lognormal, Exponential distributions) to predict field failure rates and inform warranty risk; leading cross-functional teams with ODMs to ensure hardware adheres to reliability standards; establishing reliability goals and validation strategies for notebook and desktop architectures; designing and overseeing accelerated and environmental stress testing (HALT, HASS); performing root cause and failure analysis (e.g., PCBA micro-cracking, thermal throttling, high-speed signal degradation); effectively communicating complex technical information to executives; and driving data-driven solutions through risk assessment and collaboration with engineering, procurement, supply chain, and ODM teams. Required expertise includes life modeling, DOE (Taguchi methods), statistical validation, PC stressors, and hardware validation; Education: Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Reliability Engineering, Materials Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related STEM field; Experience: typically 10+ years in reliability modeling, hardware validation, or product engineering; Certifications: ASQ CRE highly preferred; Skills include analytical tools (ReliaSoft, JMP, Minitab), hardware mastery, cross-functional leadership, and ability to translate failure modes and statistical results into business risks.
