Job Summary
The Principal at StepStone Real Estate will primarily focus on building and servicing client relationships with an emphasis on portfolio construction and investment recommendations. This role includes responsibilities such as managing client coverage, developing new business opportunities, and ensuring highly responsive client service. The ideal candidate will possess strong top-down portfolio construction experience and financial modeling skills, coupled with the ability to effectively communicate with clients. Additionally, the position involves training, managing, and motivating junior team members, contributing to the firm’s proprietary intelligence software, and supporting the development of a collaborative team culture.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS in Business, Finance, Economics or Accounting, or equivalent relevant experience
- 15+ years of experience in a manager and/or investment underwriting role in real estate
- Top-down portfolio construction experience
- Detail-oriented
- Commitment to learning and continuous improvement of tools and practices
- Ability to thrive in a deadline-oriented environment, emphasizing timely and accurate client deliverables
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule
- Willingness to travel
- High level of confidentiality
Desired Qualifications
- Possess an accreditation like a CFA, MBA, CPA, or CAIA
- Strong client communication and relationship-building skills and experience
- Exceptional business writing
- Financial modeling skills (pacing models, track record analysis, portfolio construction, etc)
- Developed investment judgment with demonstrable understanding of risk/reward
