Job Summary
Principal R&D Engineer needed to oversee and participate in planning, design, implementation, prototyping, and verification of wireless technology projects. Responsibilities include overall system design and requirements, scheduling, hands-on design, simulation, verification, FPGA/testing efforts, and customer-facing technical material. Involves leading a team of engineers, contributing to R&D business development and capture (whitepapers, proposals), and coordinating with government/industry stakeholders. Travel infrequent for customer interactions or test/demonstrations; role based in West Los Angeles, CA with a hybrid schedule (minimum 3 days onsite per week). Required MS/PhD in a related field, 10+ years wireless systems experience, 5+ years of technical leadership, U.S. citizenship, and ability to obtain necessary background clearance. Preference for skills in C/C++, MATLAB, Python; RF propagation, channel modeling, MIMO, OFDM, beamforming, cognitive radio, signal processing, and technical writing.
Required Qualifications
- MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field (wireless communications, signal processing, networking, RF design)
- Minimum 10 years of experience in design and development of wireless systems
- 5 years of technical project leadership (principal investigator)
- Participation in complete technology development cycle: design to field testing
- U.S. Citizenship due to government contracts
- Background check clearance required
